Out of the archival Post photos is the Rich Auricchio game winner to capture the 2002 Class AA League Championship. Auricchio's bases loaded double brought the 701ers from behind to win their first ever title. Rich is nowhere to be found in this exclusive photo while he is being mobbed by jubliant teammates. Players identified are catcher Matt Beck and shortfielder Marty Tambasco
Following Auricchio's game winner, the team posed in the Eastside parking lot for the Championship photo
In this exclusive Diamond Notes photo, Manager Vinny Fiorillo can be seen in a very frank discussion with first baseman Rich Auricchio. The New York Post reported in today's early edition that the conversation centered on DePalma's owner Bruno Tattaglia. Auricchio is said to want the "Tattaglia Problem" to "go away" like the Virgo Sollotzo and Vito Barzini problems went away.
