A-Team Tournament Team
In between games one and two on Saturday, August 30 the A Team Tournament Team paused to pose for a team photo on the hill off of the Lynch #1 softball diamond. This is where Rich Auricchio watched many a tournament game and where his spirit surrounded his friends and family in a gathering in his honor.

Diamond Notes took plenty of photos during the A-Team participation in the 2008 Flint/Recorder Tournament. Many local softball stars took the field with the Post 701 squad to play in the memory of long time softball player, fan and friend Rich Auricchio. Rich would have been proud of the turnout and the celebration.

Following a game one 18-6 victory, the A-Team settled back for 3 hours while waiting for game 2. However, the wait plus the beer resulted in a 16-4 loss to NTI.

PHOTOS OF THE GAME

In this sequence of photos Diamond Notes captured future Post 701 star Aaron Kelly bunting in game one. Long time AFI star Pete Pawling is seen batting from the clean up spot in the first inning while the last photo is of Danny Auricchio swinging in the bottom of the first on his way to a first inning walk.

Joe Fabozzi and his son Anthony came all the way from Amherst, Massachuscetts to play on the A-Team in the Flint/Recorder Tournament. Joe had played soccer many years ago with Rich and wanted to show his support on the A-Team along with many other of Rich's friends. Anthony singled and scored in the 6 run fourth in game one, while Joe walked and scored in the 3 run fifth. In the final shot, brother-in-laws Joe Fabozzi and Marty Tambasco are seen in a deep discussion about who gets the first beer following game one.

Bobby Lopuch is seen scoring the A-Team's 4th run in a four run second inning in game one while Donnie Krutz is caught by the Diamond Notes lens lining an rbi single in the 4th inning. Rick Hartig did his part in the 16-6 victory with a lead off single in the third inning.

Your favorite 701 stars were captured by the lens of Diamond Notes during Saturday's Tournament games. Skipper Vinny Fiorillo is seen between games one and two waiting for assistant coach Matt Beck, who was having a difficult time navigating the steep hill to the Post clubhouse, while Gavin Murdoch was seen coaching first base. Game photos had various players in action with Charlie Archinal throwing a game two pitch and Hap Hartig hurling in game one. Post pitcher Nyle Nelson, who enjoyed an excellent 2008 regular season by posting a 6-1 won/lost mark with a 4.41 era, is seen looking on during game one action. AFI star Donnie Reksc is up prior to his 4th inning single as Scott Brennan is spotted attempting a bunt in the first. Mike Andrews, who entered the game for Pete Pawling is seen hitting in the fourth.

SUNDAY'S GAME 3 PHOTOS

The A-Team entered Sunday's action with a 1-1 record, needing a win to stay alive in the tournament. However, they ran into a tough Tuman's squad led by a gutty pitching performance by Billy Agresta and lost 6-1. Rick Jobin, who spent two years with the Post before rejoining Shezkoffs this past season is seen ripping a second inning single. Two nice outfield plays made by Lorenzo Fiorillo and Scott Brennan were caught by the Diamond Notes lens on a beautiful Sunday morning.

Danny Auricchio is seen leading off the second inning with a single and he came around to score the only A-Team run on a rbi single by Matt Beck. Aaron Kelly takes a good cut in the 4th inning while Donnie Reskc is seen grounding out to third.

This collection of photos off the lens of Diamond Notes caught Tuman's first baseman Phillip Bracchi in action in Sunday's action vs the A-Team. Phillip went 1 for 3 in the 6-1 Tuman's win. Dick Hartig and Pete Pawling were caught in a quiet moment between games one and two on Saturday, while AFI star Donnie Reksc posed with Joe Fabozzi, son Anthony and retired Post player Marty Tambasco. Nyle Nelson also found time to pose with Boz, Anthony and Marty while Post 701 skipper Vinny Fiorillo is seen in Sunday's action.
